Three’s Company
OK, not quite, since we didn’t have a “Jack” but we definitely made great company. Sagrario, Fely, and I retraced many previously taken steps but it was very different since never before had I had so much fun listening to two old friends reminiscing and telling many tales of wild and crazy antics they used to get up to. It being Sunday, we headed to the Paseo Marítims and then to the Punta Herminia, watching not just the waves and enjoying the sculptures all around us but also welcoming the sun as it began its inevitable entrance from behind the clouds. After all, Sagrario was here now, and she always bring sunshine with her 😉.
We made it as far as la Torre de Hércules, but once again I didn’t make it inside, or even very close. I guess I have to wait a little longer again. Instead, we walked back to the old town where Fely regaled us with stories of her rebellious youth and sneaking out of (or was it into?) a convent. Somehow, from everything I’ve learned about her, I cannot picture her spending any time in a convent other than wrecking havoc and getting friends in trouble.
After a well-deserved siesta (we had lunch in the old town), it was time to meet some friends for a bit of bar hopping, Galicia-style. We were joined by a lovely couple visiting from Zaragoza and spent a fun evening tasting tapas at various establishments, not to mention some pretty crazy drinks. For the first time in a long time I felt like part of the real Spain, Spain that enjoys life first and foremost, Spain that welcomes a stranger and makes her feel at home. It was awesome.
