I am a woman of a certain age who, after many years of thinking about sunny Spain, did what many thought was just a pipe dream: I secured a leave of absence from my job, packed up my house, left my beloved kitty, Lucy, in the care of my daughter, bought a one-way ticket, and got on a plane for Barcelona, Spain to try something new. All this happened as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold of the world.

The plan was to travel from city to city and try to find a place to settle down, maybe long term. While not everything went according to plan, it has been the bravest, craziest, most rewarding thing I’ve ever done — by myself. I have seen and done so much in those twelve months, falling more in love with Spain daily.
